Default Smacked a log today!

Around noon today I was coming around the mouth of my cove and felt a thud under the keel. I immediately pulled the throttle back and then felt it get the drive. Checked the bilge quick and then jumped in to check the drive. Found a nice chunk above the nosecone and some missing paint around the trim tab anode. I had just planed off and was only cruising 28mph when I hit the sucker. I went back and grabbed the log and got it from the water so someone else would not hit it. Damn thing was floating about 6" under the surface.

I pulled the boat and trailered it home and found a bent blade on my labbed cleaver to further the insult. I guess it could have been alot worse.

I'm pretty good at drive work so this one will be good as new by next weekend.

Initial damage....

Sanded and prepped

1st coat of Allmetal

I'll be letting the Allmetal dry overnight and will be blending and sanding and painting this week. I sprayed it with Imron originally and it's some strong paint. I'll be touching it up with the same Imron. I'll post finished pics.....

Thankfully you were going slow. Good luck with the repair.

No, this took place at my home lake Tygart in WV. It's a very deep lake compared to Anna but this time of year the water level is constantly fluctuating and some crap gets into the lake. I've always liked Anna due to the water level never rising due to the NA power plant. I've never seen anything like what I hit today floating in Anna.

BTW My place at Anna is right across the lake from the power plant past the small chain of party islands.

Got the drive finished up yesterday. Looks like new. I went ahead and wet sanded the whole lower and sprayed it to make it look better than trying just a touch up spot. I have to give a big thanks to my Father for helping with the project.

99fever, Looks like I won't be hitting LKA this summer. Work is going to keep me here in WV.

Small world is it not? I grew up on Tygart also. I'm a 3rd Gen boater on that lake. My Grandpa bought a camp and started boating on Tygart in 1956. I've probably seen your Dad's boat before.

Mine is the 22' Gold Metalflake Hammond Challenger.

How long have you had that for?

The boat your running with in the first shot was docked across from us last year.

Dads boat is a white and green 210 crownline named My Way.

I am sure we know a few people through 6 degrees.

Glad to see I am not the only person on OSO from WV.
