Stalling Alpha

Just replaced my lower shift cable. Now now I have a stalling problem when shifting into gear. What is the proper adjusting procedure.

Cable barrel needs to be adjusted to 6 inches. If it stills stalls you have a problem in the drive. Should you have any questions call me at; 954 237 0332

You could also have a bad shift interupt switch, but check the cable adjustment first... :) Jamie / Lakeside

I agree with Jamie. Your shift interrupt switch is likely the problem - I had one do that to me.

When you replaced the shift cable did you replace the bushings and seals in the shift shaft that's located in the bell housing on the transom assembly?

These bushings and seals tend to wear out and leak, which is what makes your shift cable go bad to begin with. Over time the shift shaft in the bell housing gets tight which puts excess pressure on your shift interrupt assembly which causes it to stall when going into gear and coming out of gear.
