Default OMC King Cobra

Have a buddy looking at a 23' Checkmate with a OMC KIng Cobra Drive with Blue Thunder Gears(?).

Should he run as fast as he can or consider it for the right price? Told him I had no idea but I would post on here. Are parts available and how do they hold up??

Thanks!!

A lot of people swear by the King... Personally, unless I could buy the boat for such a good deal that I could just swap drives if something broke, I wouldn't do it.

I turned down a bunch of smokin' deals on OMC boats while searching for my boat.

lol...Holy thread resurrection, Batman!

But yeah...I still see a handful of OMC drives, along with Yamaha outdrives from time to time. I believe the ones you see are from the 'culled herd' so to speak; the ones that are left are the 'good ones', just built right I guess. But as the years go by you see fewer and fewer non Merc or Volvo outdrives.
