Default SX -V- Duo Prop

I have just bought a 23ft Wellcraft Excalibur fitted with a 5.0 Volvo on a SX drive.

I am now looking at a 7.4l Volvo that has 385HP, this should put the boat well over 65MPH. I am debating whether or not to purchase a duo prop system to go with the engine or should I stay with the SX drive (it is newer than the Duo Prop that I am looking at).

Can anyone tell me how stable the boat will be on the SX drive at that speed, will it lean to the right, will I need tabs or am I simply better off with the Duo Prop?

Any help greatly apprecated

Thanks!!!!!!

If speed is mainly what you're after, you may want to stick with the SX drive. You'll also have a better prop selection with it.
But then again, you're going from a 5.0 (?hp) to a 7.4 (385hp)... what ratio is your SX drive? It may not be very well suited for the 7.4.

I have a DPS on the boat in my avatar with the motor you are talking about and it runs good. The boat doesn't want to lean or do anything crazy. As far as props are concerned, basically what I have found is since it's a volvo they are going to be more difficult to come by then a merc, especially if you wanted to demo some. I did notice a big difference when I switched the props from aluminum to SS. It's been a good trouble free package for me. Any other questions, let me know.
James

My drive has 1.78 gears.

for the sx drive you can get a hub kit and use any of the merc square hub props. the upper unit is the same as the DP. It should take the power.
