Default drive lube

I've been using Merc gear lube and switched to Redline Heavy shock lube. Didn't notice any difference. Could I use Redline Medium shock lube to maybe free up some HP? Light shock?Water temp is <60F all year. Seattle

You are talking about freeing up maybe 3 hp between the lube changes. That = 0mph speed gains.
