Default XR Drive Oil

We just got new XRs for our Formula 382. The place we got them from reccomended Redline heavy duty shock gear synthetic. Engines are 600hp which is right on the edge of what XRs can handle. What is the best gear lube to run? Have also heard that merc drive oil absorbs water, but isnt as good of a lube as some of the others. What have you guys found to be best?

I run merc stuff, 775 hp in a 30' single, oil is like new when I change it. I was going to switch to Amsoil but I really have no reason to.

Cheapest way to get royal purple is to buy it form distributor on ebay. You can get a 5 gallon pail or the quart bottles delivered to your doorstep. Cheaper then NAPA. Here is a link. I bought the case for my Konrads
