Default Broken #6 drive shaft.

My boat broke a #6 drive shaft. Its the shaft that is in the bellows that goes into the drive. It broke just before the splines start.Has any body else seen this and what can cause this?It looks like 1.5" that twisted in half.
The other piece ,the splined part stayed in the drive.I will see if I can post a pick. Thanks

Default shaft

I have heard of it happening, is it at the end of the treaded area for the props? I just got mine back fron colabella perf
had to replace one shaft. The problem with being on the west coast no #6 repair shops and the shipping is so expensive.
did you lose a prop?

Vern Gilbert, in Torrance,Ca. can handle any of your needs for #6 drives here on the west coast....we had him rebuild ours last year...does excellent work in a timely manner and a good price...

Thanks guys. The shaft that broke wasnt the prop shaft though,it was the input shaft,(driveline shaft)on the upper end of the drive. Its the one that comes out of the drive and goes into the back ofthe boat.It looks like it broke at the splines.
