1.35 or 1.50????

What are the bennifits of the 1.35 vs the 1.50 gears in a bravo. Thanks Scott

a 136 gear allows you to run a smaller pitch prop at the same engine rpm as a bigger wheel. Or the same prop at a lower rpm or a taller prop at the same rpm for more speed if you can turn it.

That makes sence. So the 1.36 would be more for top speed?

If you can pull it, then yes. A 136 will run faster at the same rpm with the same prop as a 150.

No reason to go with a 1.36 over a 1.50 unless you are running out prop pitch.

I got it now!!!!

1.36:1 ratio can be a little less stressful on the drive if you are able to achieve the speeds you are looking for with a smaller prop. A plus for a heavy boat like yours.

as stated the 1:36 is for use when prop pitch is no longfer a help. OR, you can use the 1:36 ratio to increaes prop speed . you'll turn a smaller wheel at the same engine rpm but have increased prop speed which will help handling at top speeds. especially near the 100 and above mark and on vee's.
