One of the big reasons Mercruiser parts are so expensive is that they're here & available. If I break something, I'll be back on the water quickly.
Earlier this year, I bought a set of Konrads- but only after alot of investigation. Figuring that the US Navy is buying them and they ship lots of them to the commercial marine industry made me feel confident they'll be around.
One of the more attractive attributes of the Konrad is the fact that I don't have to get boned by Merc to get parts.
I applaud anyone competing against Mercruiser, but I wouldn't be on their short list of potential customers for some years to come. Nothing worse than having an expensive piece of orphan hardware and needing parts for it.
Aside from that...
Where do they plan to get a Bravo gimbal that will withstand 1500 horsepower?
