outdrive problem?

I have a bravo 1. The boat was running good when it suddenly started to slip at first I thought cavitation. But after shutting down it does it when ever I start giving it some gas. There is no noise I can hear from the out drive over the engine. I was able to idle back in.

Good chance its the coupler.

One thing to check is open the hatch and have someone watch when you put it in gear.. see if the shaft speeds up when you rev it up.. careful you dont dump them into the bilge!! One thing you might check is to see if you have a plastic hub in the prop.. I rememeber when they had them, the hub would spin, but would hold enough to let you idle back in.. Something to check, hoping it is not the coupler..

Hope this helps.

Could be the cone clutch

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the input. Sorry I didn't get back sooner my computer screen on a 6 year old laptop burned out.

As for the boat I'm glad to say it was only the prop. I spun the hub. Older rubber style. $89 installed in the prop works fine now.
