If you have at least 8 inches to slide the engine forward you don't even need to pull the drive... Just lift up slightly and slide the engine foward till the drive shaft comes out of the coupler..... I've done it at least a couple dozen times.... You can also put it back in with the drive still on there... ;)

It's easier to pull the motor without the drive being on but if you have the room and you're reluctant to pull the drive, you don't have to.

He probably has about 1 inch of room in front of the engine, so that wont work, but good idea.

Why's the engine gotta come out? You didn't tell me that the other day!

If you are going to pull the engine, its always best to pull the drive even if you have the space to move the engine forward. Its best to check the engine alignment before the drive goes back on since the engine was out. Unless of course the engine was solid mounted.

Every time I have pulled a drive I have been by myself. I guess I need better friends. ;) If you don't think you can handle it drop the lower first.

I agree with 320es. I did both drives by myself, but pulled the lowers first. It's much easier to handle. Don't let the drive shaft fall and pinch a hole in bellow. Support it reaching in with your hand as you slide it out.

It weighs like 100 lbs, it's not like it's a TRS, Speedmaster or #6... Even the Bmax (130 lbs) TRS and #3 Speedies I do by myself, just need some blocks of wood under the skegs so it doesn't drop down.

You shouldn't have a problem unless you're really out of shape.

Thanks Guys, I bought a drive jack because I'm going to have to put it back on by myself. Pete, Both the engine and drive are being gone through this winter. I'm going over this boat top to bottom. The engine's going to JC PERF :) Doug
