Default OMC Drives?

My buddy has a family runabout with a OMC on it. It seems very hard to shift and the cable doesn't seem to be the problem. If we pulled the drive is there anybody that you could recommend that knows these drives? Doug

if it is a cobra drive you will find that after the drive is off the cavity the shift bell crank is in is full of corrosion and salt build up. if it is 400/800 series it could be the cable to the drive or the shift assist kit and/or oil. it can't be an electric shift because you would not have a problem.
