Default Konrad Ace

With all the talk about repairing Bravos 1's and XRs, it got me thinking. Why don't more people and boat companies run the ACE? It would seem to be a perfect drive for those of us that do not have the room to move the motors forward. Also, if breaking an XR is becoming common occurrence for someone, it seems to be a great fix. One other question, is the ACE capable of being a completely surfaced drive? And at that time, would you switch over to cleaver type props like a V or VI.

That's got to be part of the problem. I didn't know they were that high. It's interesting , I was looking all over the net and couldn't find an MSRP for the drives. It seems that with just about anything boat related, it's almost impossible to find an MSRP. I was on a bunch of boat sites and no one lists prices.(weird).

How much does a Merc NXT setup go for? How much is a new Bravo with SM lower?

For that price you get a BAM 1350 trans and external hydraulic steering, plus a drive rated for over 700 lb/ft. If you're making the power to require the setup, it's a bargain.

OK. So if someone were building new, it does seem to be a fair price. ( a little harder to swallow if going from Bravo type drives).
So to my question, why aren't there more new boats out there with them. It does seem to be the perfect drive for a boat with motors in the 700-900 HP range.

If I am correct. Mercury wouldn't sell the engines without the drives at a discount to the boat builders.

The Konrad Ace package is as complete as it gets - Drive with HP lower, BAM transmission, extension box, steering rams, wingplate, fluid reservoir, high volume trim pump, trim rams, transom assembly, hoses, hardware, drive oil, install manual and warranty papers!!

I have one that was on my personal boat, gone through by Konrad at a very good price. Boat was sold less power and drive.

Red face

if things change and people start buying boats again, they were working on a b1 replacement I think, but with times being tuff, there doing well with there other stuff. someone else out in calf was working on a new b1 drive, but nuthing yet just go max marine its better than a xr. and take it easy getting on plane and getting air watch out,I have had good luck with my b1 1988 drive for 15yrs before I SAID see yah cause A imco shortie would not fit so I bought a used upper and lower swapped the shortie in it was good until they stole it now I have a b1x diesel hope it will last for a while with 1050hp didn't know Iwas going that big
