I have read all your posts looking for background on your story and Im a bit confused. IF I go back to last year you post a thread asking about Teague drives- then you posted another thread saying you had them, then and talked about the problem you had. It could be OSO because stuff gets deleted all the time- but Im curious. Did you buy your boat with the platinums on it used- or new? IF you bought it used did you know the previous owner, or if he was being level with you about the hours? How come you stayed with teague? If my drive blew in 30 hours I probably wouldnt go back. (well now I would because Teague gives me a year, but after that maybe not...) Just curious- thanks for the feedback in any case. Uncle Dave |
So can we all can agree, that 800 on a Teague. Max Worx. Cryo treated Merc XR, is gonna bust when you beat the snot out of them in the rough ??

I knew you would say that !!! lol lol .
ASD' can certainly take massive beans. Rik- you mentioned in a another thread you have customers skiing and tubing behind ASD's. That must be quite the "cooling down"- got any videos of that? Uncle Dave |

Now that you mention it superbabi my gears were also cryo treated too.........I'm sure teague is building a better bravo style drive now vs. 10 years ago. Given that the new drives a swept back, lowers are now different, and the internals we found in my rebuilt drives........we opted for the plain xr
sorry for the confusion uncle dave |

Uncle Dave Think about this. The average skier skis at what? 20-30 mph? There really is no rooster tail at that speed and the drive is trimable so trimming it fully down makes no spray at all at the skiing speeds. I have couple guys that ski the Catalina Ski race and those are much higher speeds and of course the speedmasters throw a rooster at those speeds also. |

I looooovvvvve your drive, - but in that, all drive design are a compromise to some degree. I agree that a 6 and an ASD throw about that same as you say I would add my experience with twin merc 700 with the NXT's is about the same as well. I think an xr/imco style drive is a friendlier ski and tow package, but its inherently relatively weak and less efficient. Not that you cant ski with an ASD rig, its just not as flexible- that said the upside of the asd is its brute strength and long service life. Skiing behind an nxt drive would be about the same as the arneson. with the nod going to ASD as the arm allows further submersion IMHO Not ragging on your drive in the slightest - its phuking awesome and I've NEVER said anything but great things about your product - but simply put every design has compromises. Fair? Uncle Dave |

Sounds like Mr.Gadgets and Articfriend, take the rebuild to the highest level. ???
Do a drive search on "Articfriends". He's always testing and seems to be a true test platform and has a pretty good idea of the Bravo drive's limitations. |
