Default Outdrive oil cooler

I was internet surfing last nite, and found this:

http://www.drewmarine.com/products/c...coolswirl.html

What do you guys think?

Being that I just stuck the clutch in the upper of my IMCO SC drive due to heat, I found this to be interesting.

Chris,

Check with Mr Gadgets. He has a similar kit that includes a spin on oil filter for less dough. I was seriously considering it, but couldn't work it into this years budget...

Hey Chris:

What cooler are/were you currently running on your trans? What hp are you pushing or were you pushing when you roasted it?

It ended up that I did not damage the outdrive... The bolt in the shift shaft backed out, and was sitting in the rear of the upper case.

Did not touch the gears. Lucky I did not trim up when I came in, or it would have fallen forward into the gearset.

Anyway... I am running a 28 ft Nordic Heat with a 600sci and a stage II Whipple upgrade. Aprox 750hp thru an IMCO SC outdrive. I was running a 28 pitch, 5 blade Hering prop at 15.5" diameter, and doing 94.1 mph at 5600 rpm. Needless to say... slip was in the 6% range. When It would not shift into neutral or reverse.. I asssumed that I had finally roasted the clutch because I could still easily move the shifter, and I had loaded it pretty darn hard.

I am still interested in a drive cooler.

Chris

Here's my setup that I got from Mr. Gadgets and mounted last fall. I did mount an oil thermostat a couple of weeks ago as well, to be able to take advantage of the filtration part of the system and still keep the oil at the correct temp.

I'm still during break in so I have kept it out of boost and only 4000rpms so I can't really giva any feedback of the setup yet.

Hi! What kind of pump is that? What kind of pressure is it running? What did you have to do to drill the holes in the drive for the oil lines? Looks like they are both in the side of the outdrive? Thanks Charlie
