Default Hardin Marine 3 hole steering end cap

Hello All,
I have the older hardin marine system not the new style wing plate. My question is has anyone ran this end cap without drilling two extra holes. Or is the three hole steering end cap good enough to prevent water getting into the drive or safety issues. Thanks Jeff

A friend of mine runs a twin ram hyd steering setup on an Eliminator with only the three bolts. I don't think he's had any drama's but he's careful and checks the drive every time he takes it out.

I give him a call and let you know.
