TRS lower questions
First off I dont know that much about the drives so I apericate everyones help with my questions. I have been looking for a TRS drive LH rotation and most of them that I find have a nosecone. which I think that my drives on my boat do not have nosecones if I put a drive on with a nose cone is that going to create a proplem other than if some one looks at it and calls me a dumba$$ for having one on the leftside and not one on the right?
Thanks |

Thanks I kinda figured that but I was just checking I seen that they make a piece that could be welded on or epoxyed on and thought about doing that and painting it up so it didnt look that half a$$ thanks I really apericate all your help
But yes either way will work,,just make shure they have the same gear ratio as yours . Spin the input shaft 15 times and the prop shaft should spin 10 times ( 1:50 ) !!!! |

If the one on the one is epoxy'd on there u can also try to take it off,,,big hammer and finesse !!!

There is a complete TRS LH drive in the Offshore Only Classifieds for $1650.If you check into it though question that it is for sure a LH drive because in the picture there is a RH prop on it.If you wanted to switch your internals to another case there is a new, in the box lower case with the pinion bearing for $1100.Pinion bearings are $106.There was a lower case on ebay for $500 up until yesterday. It never sold though so it may return. It's usually cheaper to find a complete used drive than to try to put together a lower.

It"s not that it's that hard but it takes some special tools. The pinion gear has to be shimmed , the gear backlash has to be set and the bearing preload has to be set. Also the bearing between the upper and lower halves has to be shimmed beings you would be putting on a different lower to your upper. This is better left to a reputable shop that is equipped to do TRS drives.Total would probably be at least $400 at a shop and they would probably try to sell you some bearings along with it.That's why I say you can usually get a complete drive for what it cost to set up a lower.
