knock sound

Default knock sound

I have a 1997 Brovo 1 with real low hours less then 9 on the whole boat. took the boat out sat. no problem took it out sun. no problem. dont reamber any sound. get home to flush the motor and wash the boat in gear running just a lil gas knock sound. in nutral lil gas i here a knock from the rear of the engine put it in gear same knock sound. trimed up louder. trimed down cant realy here it. what could it be? u-jounts in the shaft maybe? any help thanks.

ujoints would be my guess. Pull off the drive and inspect it.

Yes I bet U joints. Pull the drive off, if they fail can take stuff out $$. 9hrs is long enough to thrash them if the previous owner was moron. I bought a boat a couple yrs ago with 41 hrs on it and U joints were worn out. Replaced them and they have lasted ~800 hrs since.

U joints or internal exhaust flappers.

I was thinking flappers also, but he said it gets worse if he trims up, so my guess would be U-joints also. I had the flapper problem on my old scarab, I went out to the garage and got 2 broom handles, and stuffed them uo the tailpipes to hold the flappers open, then started the engine, and noise was gone just for my piece of mind that thats what it was, sounds just like a rod knock.
