The IMCO was generally 1+ MPH vs XR lower. Howerever, you can likely turn harder with the Merc lower because of the longer skag. This was accurate 3-5 yrs ago, I assume it still is...

Imco lower has their own shafts, better than the Merc stuff in some situations. When I build an Imco lower I use the XR propshaft, decent piece. The vertical shaft in the XR is not as good as the Imco, strength wise and tolerance wise.
If you run a 50' boat then the Imco propshaft may have the edge, but I have not tested it..
Hope this helps

The parts in the lower of the XR will swap into the Imco lower so long as it is regular length. Short lowers will need the Imco short shaft,, -1, -2.
So how did your buddy bend a 1 1/4" prop shaft.. rotor-tilling at the launch?? Got too close to the concrete?
