Looking for Bravo gears
#4
I have 1 of a buddies '99 ish B3 lower in my garage now that is junk. He just replaced both lowers last month with new ones. On the one I have, the prop shafts and gears should be fine ( haven't tore it apart to know for sure), but the prop shaft carrier has eaten away from corrosion from being an in water boat (cruiser) to the point of leaking lube out around the seal bore. The drives had the oil changed this winter and it was stored indoors, but as soon as put in the water and driven a oil film appeared, so the boat was pulled back out. I think the housing would be need to be cut apart do to the corrosion. The other lower is still sealed, but eaten up bad too. Not sure how to tell what ratio it is though. 1 3/4 turns of the verticle shaft results in 1 turn of the larger prop shaft. The uppers are painted and on the boat, so no ratio sticker.

I have mine apart so turning shafts would be out of the question. There are a few different sets of gears you can put in the lower unit So the only way to be sure is to get the prop shaft out some how.cutting or breaking the case. Then just count the gears.
