Putting into reverse
Doing sea-trials on a boat on Friday 98 Sonic prowler 502 with Bravo 1 drive. Only issue owner has already told me about is shifting in reverse. He told me that the last time he took the boat out it didnt want to go into reverse. He said he pushed down far on the shifter and it went right in, no grinding. Does this sound like an easy cable adjustment or something else. If it is a cable adjustment I would like to adjust it will doing sea-trials just to make sure, would that be fairly simple and not time consuming?

Looked at some of the different forums, and talk to the owner. He has manual put the boat in and out of reverse, so it is a cable adjustment thing. No big deal. Would like to know if there are any special things I need to know before I try to adjust it.

Could be a adjustment but if it used to shift and now it is getting worse most likely it is bearings in the upper gear set pushing deeper into the bore. These bearings set the stack clearances for the cone clutch.
