Cobra Power/ No Serial Number Drive
Guys, after reading some post in here I was wondering if any of you have had any dealings with Cobra Power or http://www.cobrapower.com Albert who works there stated he has a drive that I need however he said it is brand new however there is not a serial number. Red flag. This is a merc drive that is suppose to be brand new and he said he would put that in writing. Thoughts.....

Grim,
when a drive is assembled from scratch, you order a new case and it comes without serial numbers. So it may have been assembled by a Merc dealer instead of direct new from Merc.
Merc only warranties drives that are behind Merc motors with serial numbers. If a dealer gets caught sneaking one by.. they get black flagged and are in deep do do... At least that is what I have been told.
Warranty is only as good as the paper it was written on..

I bought 2 #5 SSM lower gear cases and a new set of #5 lower gears from Randy several months ago. The parts were as advertised and Randy was more than helpful and friendly throughout the whole transaction. I would not hesitate to recommend him/Cobra to anyone looking for parts, based on my experience.
