Which drive?
Iam going to build a 600+ cid N/A motor for it over the winter and probably shooting for 650-700hp. I have a TRS set-up on it now and know there is transome work, etc to convert from the trs but what is the best drive to get to handle the new power for next year? I dont think a bravo will handle the power so what's next a XR bravo?

Konrad 540 PRS would be easiest . It's made as a high performance replacement for the TRS. Pretty much bolts on to the existing transom assembly. Don't know what your budget is but their around 10K. |
I would go with an IMCO SCX upper, and and IMCO SC lower. IMCO reports that they have yet to see a broken SCX. The SC lower is faster than the SCX lower. This is a direct, bolt on replacement and is rated at 1000hp.

For a TRS?????
Konrad is a 10K one day job. Of course you could always just fix your TRS. |
I didnt catch that it was a TRS. I would go with the Konrad drive also. Easy swap.

So is there anyway I can find a set of gears for the lower unit for the TRS? If its possible to just repair it for now since it is just the lower gear set that are destroyed... that would save me some $$$$$ which would help me out big time right now.
Thanks guys Erik |
Yes they are still available from Mercury. Pinion gear is $290 and the drive gear is $288 plus shipping from this place. Mercury price is only a few dollars more each but there would be no shipping. You would have to have them installed at a reputable shop (shimming required with special tools)that is equipped to do TRS drives.Labor would probably be about $250.Then they would probably want to replace some bearings and seals which would probably be about $200 more. You would get out with about a $1000 bill.http://www.perfprotech.com/store/ass....aspx#assembly
