Default Used Bravo X or CPO Bravo 1?

Looking for some advise. My drive just blew up and after taking it apart have realized it cannot be rebuilt (broken inside). Ive looked around and am have found 2 drives Im interested in and would like opinions...

1) Used Bravo X drive with 160 hours...Inside and out looks brand new...$3200

OR

2) Certified pre-owned Bravo 1 drive with 1 year Mercury warranty (in box and stated brand new)...$3600

Ive heard the Bravo X is beafier inside and will last longer..What drive would you chose?

The Bravo X has stronger upper gears. I see no reason you should really need an X. A regular Bravo should be plenty. There are several in the classifieds at the half the price you are looking at.

Griff--I went thru the classifieds and see nothing in the $1500-$2000 range for a complete drive--more like $3100+ for a standard Bravo 1. Where are you finding these other drives??

There were a few in the swap shop. You probably have to go back through the last month or so. I know my boating season is probably over, not sure about yours. There should be some deals over the winter.

I have 2 Bravo 1's coming available off of the back of my cat. I have them in the swap shop. Twin Bravos and Mayfair steering. I would like to sell they together as complete drives and transom assy's but I would seperate from the steering and sell just one drive no transom assy for $1650, take a look.

It has been pretty nasty up here (Puget Sound) for the last month. Powerquest Baby! may have a windshield and heat but I don't so I am with you Griff.

He posted that comment on 10/2 when it was still relatively warm. My boat is all winterized and tucked away now. Even with a windshield 45 degrees is just a little too cold to go out and play in!!

I ended up buying a used Bravo 1 drive (48 hours of use) on Ebay for $1400 shipped. It arrived in perfect condition (inside and out) and is all installed on my boat now. Im all ready for the spring and am seriously considering a little road trip down to Lake Havasu in April for the Desert Storm.

Trying to be funny Havasu! sounds great, I know a that a couple guys store their boats down there and fly down in the middle of our miserable winters.
