Default Mercury Gear Availablility???

Does anyone know if Merc is having issues with supplying gears right now? XR's or XZ's?

I've bought 3 sets in 2009 without issue.......well, other than the price which has jumped quite a bit the last couple years.

From the conversations my husband has had with our builder, he has no idea when the sets will be available. Really sucks and we are on the virge of buying two used xr's just as backups for next year... we lost the last 5 weeks...

I've got a spare upper in the garage....AND a full spare that happens to be on the boat right now!!! Blew one not long ago and just got around to putting it all back together. Spare comes off when I winterize it in a few weeks. With 575's having one spare probably isn't a bad idea.

I'm sure that somebody has/had them on the shelf. Try Doller or Bam Marine. You are the first person to post about the gears not being readily available.

Yeah, that is what my husband is saying... not sure on the whats actually going on but hopefully we'll know something soon. I know he was going to call today for another update but to be honest, at first I did have hope that we could back on the water this year, but at this point, we'd have to wear our snowmobile gear... whats the point of have 2 year warranty on drive when if they break a couple time during the summer, you are SOL since this is the 5th week that we are down... 5 WEEKS. If Merc is having a problem getting gears out at least make more attempts to localize some gears from surrounding businesses that may have them...

Few weeks back I needed to replace parts, Merc had the gears ( XR's ) but had a 4 -5 week backorder on the top cap that I needed. I called Teague and they had them in stock. You might try calling them, I ordered after lunch, New York time, and they were at my door before 10 am the next day via UPS.
