Default SSM 3A ratio change from 1.68 to 1.62

Rebuilding my 3A's and i'm not able to find the 1.5 ratio upper gear sets, I can locate the 1.44 gears which will drop my drive ratio a few points. Does anyone know how this change will impact the performance? 36 Apache with 575's & 4 blade 16.5 x 27 clevers. Currently runs mid 70's at 5500 rpm.

Have a friend here in NJ who has 1.48's for sale. recently rebuilt by speedmasters.

It may perform better who knows.. Props will need to be bigger.

I was interested in your boat some years ago when it was in Long Island.

You'll lose about 150-200rpms. If you need to spin the engine 5500rpms for peak power, then some minor prop tweaking may be needed.
