Default Gimble bearing identification

I need a bit of help. I have a 2004 XR drive and the gimble bearing is bad. I read the Merc manual for replacement and it says use the bearing with a red dot. The XR bearings are cut back .040 for clearance of the larger u-joints. The part that came in has a white dot. I am told that this is the new bearing which is now not greaseable. My old red dot bearing was greaseable. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?
