Hi
First off. I'm posting this, because my cousin's not a member, and he asked if I would help.
I have a question, regarding my cousin's '09 Formula 310 BR. A couple of days ago, both lower units where stolen. The units where B3's with 1.81 gears. We talked about replacing them with B1 units. Has anyone tried this? The boat is with Merc 496 mag's. The thought was to get a better top end. Will the boat handle much worse with the B1's compared to the B3's? I think it had a top speed around 55-56 mph depending on fuel, weather, load, ect.
Anything from you guys would be very helpfull.
Thanks

Stick with the B3's. I have a 29'cruiser with twins, and my buddy has a 32'cruiser with twins, but has the B3's. Both boats have 350's and 10' beams. World of difference all around. He plains out in effortlessly, regardless of number of passengers, boat runs flat, and is even faster than me.

If we stick with B3's. Could it be an idea to go with 2.2 gears? I remember a Teague on tech article some years ago, where a guy asked about a boat powerboat tested with 1.5 Bravos, and the guy asked why he's boat was slower. It turned out that he's boat had 1.35 gears with lower pitch, and that made it slower.
There was another post on here, regarding cavitation burns on B3 props. He's been having that problem as well. Would labbed B3 xr props help?
Thanks
