I went by the storage tonight and noticed a small puddle (8" round) below port drive. I changed the gear lube a few weeks ago and have used the boat once since then. I see trace of oil down both sides of skeg from around the back part of the prop.
I'm pretty sure I tightened the drain plug enough when putting back. Does the drain plug have a washer? Should it be changed each time? Could I have gotten something out of whack putting prop back on? I didn't notice any vibrations last time out so don't think it is anything with the prop. First time I have changed gear lube on B1 and afraid I messed something up.
I will be going back tomorrow night to check further. Any thoughts of things to look for or check?
Thanks!!

I would check the drain plug. Chances are you didnt get it tight or it is leaking. There is a washer under the nut.. If it is the fiber type, they can get squashed, delaminate and leak. There is a newer one that has a rubber coating on it.. They can leak also.
Check your resovior for low level. If it is down much there maybe some other source for the leak. But it is a safe bet to go to the last thing you did and check it.
If it is the rubber style, it should not need to be changed unless it is damaged. The fiber ones I change if they look worn out or leak. Might want to pick one up at the merc dealer or a Sierra brand at West Marine or similar store..
Hope that helps.

Update -- I went by there today to look at in more detail and try to fix. With the drive trimmed up from towing, the fluid had filled the reservoir behind prop and then leaking down. I pulled the prop off and trimmed it down to empty the fluid that had leaked. Not sure where it could be leaking from except for the drain plug so I took it out. The only thing I noticed is it did not have a washer/gasket of any type. Would not having one cause a leak to this extent? It was plenty tight. I had purchased one earlier today just to have and put it on. Watched for about one hour and doesn't appear to be leaking anymore. Is this likely false hope that I won't know for sure until I run it under pressure?
The boat is new with only 50 hours on it. This was the first change for gear lube. I imagine the washer fell off or didn"t get back on right with rush of getting drain plug back in before too much fluid drained back out. Speaking of this -- is it me or is the design of filling from the bottom and having to plug back up like that greatly flawed? I understand why.... the air and all of that.... just seems odd.

That is the way it has to be done to insure no air pockets.. from the bottom up. I suspect your leak was from the lack of a washer.. they sometimes dont seal with a washer. How far down in the resovoir did the fluid go?? Did it drain completely? If so, fill the bottle and then you can pull the top plug to let the air bubble out and let it fill until you see it come out the upper hole. Then put the plug back in and fill the bottle..
I use a fitting with a quick release on it, to help make the transition from fill to reinstalling the plug.. PM me if you would like more details on it..

Just as final wrap-up of this issue (for anyone that might read this later with similar issue), the missing washer on the drain plug was the reason for the leak. Put one on and tightened it back up. Put about 10 hours on it this weekend and didn't lose a drop.
All is good.
All is good.
