TC, Glad to hear the OL is Rockin!!
Last winter we took out the 2" spacer to try. Boat still got on plane surprisingly easy. BUT could not maintain WP so motors kept heating up. If I turned I could get WP and cool off but got old quick. So we put spacer back in. As for ratio- when I was going thru XRs my 1.36s - the Cig seemed to like better. Why? No clue. Better speed and mid range. I have always turned Out w props and never tried In. Best speed w XRs was 95 or 96. I am running close to 750 a side. I did lose a few top end numbers with SCXs. Thinking about blue printing this winter also. Reliability!!! Did I say Reliable??? Totally - 100% satisfied- Should have done it 3 yrs earlier and I would have had them paid for with all the XR rebuilds I did$$$ Hours close to 150 easily. How much top end speed did you lose? I know its worth it, just curious. |
Maybe 3 or 4 mph. I have givin up on top end numbers. I know my chit will never be the fastest so I just have fun eating Chit in the Rough!
Not many on our pond can keep up then- except those- Puzzy Cats lol |
Thanks for all the real time feedback guys!! I am going to order in January, take them like I took my wife, for better or worse!!lmao
I did hear from one guy that you CANNOT rev the engines over 1500 in N with the SCXs. Something about the clutch may try to engage. Anyone else hear of this? The main reason it is a concern for me is docking, my motors, like many other blower motors is not friendly idling at the dock at all. In between every couple shifts, I have to clear the motor out due to loading up a bit. I am looking into the fast fuel TBI set up for it right now as well which should help a lot. |

That's better then I thought. That makes it even more worth the money I think. Thanks |
It doesn't day anything in the owners manual about that. I rev my junk all the time.

Me to on the revving. Never heard that one.

I really appreciate all of you guys giving me some feed back. I hope I have the same great luck with them as you guys have, I am outright sick of worrying about breaking a drive every time I take the boat out!!! An I learned the hard way, for all the money I have spend on rebuilding drives I could have about paid for a set of SCXs.
I will post when I get them installed and let you guys know how they work out on my tank!!! Brad |
They all break guys, it's just the facts. Had a friend break an SCX but it wasn't a bad repair (clutch shaft). A BMax can break also but mainly the lower is the issue. SCX has the solution for that but at the expense of speed loss due to the large lower. I lost 2-3 mph when I switched from Bravo's to a BMax in 2007. I swapped another Bravo boat over to BMax this summer and there was a 1-2 mph speed loss. Had a friend switch over to an SCX recently and lost 12 mph on top but is still prop testing. Another friend did an SCX swap on a flat bottom Cig and lost 10 mph. Others have lost zero to just a few MPH.
But, if you gain reliability and didn't have to do a ton of work to re-rig the boat, it's all worth it in my opinion. |
I have a -3" imco sc lower for you scx guys 2900 it's yours newly assembled 1.35 gears. 5136758545
