Default TRS to Konrad, ext boxes???

Hey guys. I'm brand new to high performance outdrives. My question is this:

Does anyone have experience with TRS/Konrads on boxes? If any, what are the advantages? Who makes the conversion?

I'm actually not even sure if this is an advantage, or relevant.

My setup:
38' 1990 Top Gun, TRS to Konrad 540PRS convert on notched transom. Latham Hyd steering. Hawk 600s for now with 572cu / 850hp (blowers) in a couple years. Thanks for any input.

The Konrads are setup 1.57" shorter then the TRS. That will give you a little help in the conservative X dimension that Cigarette put with the TRS Package. Since you have the Notched transom this already acts like an extension box. Prop selection is much more advance now and with the Konrads you can run Bravo 4 blades and Merc 5 blades. I think your money would be better spent in Prop work then boxes. I think the setup with the Konrads will be correct.

The best person to contact is BIGGUS on OSO. He is the Konrad rep and knows the ins and outs. Especially on a TOP GUN Setup.

Thanks. I do have Kurts number and have spoken with him many times, good guy. I realize the notched transom helps, I was unsure on whether the boxes would take it one step further. I agree to spend money on props first to get it "tuned in". I am just starting the resto so any plans I can make now will save headaches / "do-overs" in the future. I have to say that I've never seen TRSs on boxes (or Konrads) but have seen quite a few Bravos on boxes (even on notched transoms).

This is not the right section, however, does anyone have the "ideal" prop figured out for the setup I posted above? I would also like to keep my eyes out for props in case I find a set.

I had a 1985 Mistress, it had a pair of N/A 540's that made 675HP. I had a pair of Konrads on the setup. The bottom is pretty much the same, but has no notch in the transom. I had a set of 26" Bravo 4 Blades. I turned them to 5500 RPMs in Cool Weather. I think this would be a good start for your 600's. They could always be worked to get you perfect. I had 150 more horse then you but I also didn't have the notch.

My Mistress would run 77-78 GPS. I never got around to it before I sold it, but Brett at BBLADES told me that he would get me 80 if I sent him the props.

Just my thoughts.

This Setup was with Props spinning out, Spinning in I would have been at 80. On my boat it was good for 3 miles an hour. But the dock control sucked and I know I would never be a fast boat anyway.

Good luck

Good info, thanks. This will be an all around boat. If it hits upper 80s with the 850s I will be happy (90mph is the goal). Not looking to set the world on fire with this boat. It would be nice if it touched 80mph with the 600s and correct props for now, not sure if it's even possible.....

Biggus can probably give you your prop info as well. He has almost the same set up.
