Default 5 Second delay on Bravo XR....

There is about a 4-5 second delay on my port side Bravo XR when I shift it into reverse......this happens when I shift at the throttles or by hand down below at the shift bracket. I was told to change the yoke and cam assembly.......who thinks this will fix it or does the problem lie deeper?? Any input or experiences are appreciated....

I have the exact same problem.
Does your shift quicker if you give a little gas?

Mine are the same! Usually after it warms up to.
Let me know what works. One of mine does it in reverse and one in forward. Makes docking FUN!

Could be the cam.

Might be that the eccentric rings on the driven gears are
worn ( what the shift cam rubs against when shifting)

The cam is alot cheaper that a gearset. though.

i had a similar issue but my starbord drive would pop out if i caught air hit a hard wave turned a real sharp corner. i had to replace a clutch cone. it was worn but still did it. this weekend my port drive cable came loose from its bracket. i tried to adjust it but failed. I called a buddy and he adjusted the vertical adjustment ahead of the drive cable. It appears that this took care of all the problems but will know more this weekend. I can post photos tuesday but I am boating until then.
