Default timing marks on Bravo one outdrive help!!

Im trying to finish up my Ujoint installation and then I'm going to install the whole u joint assembly back onto the bravo one outdrive. On the mercruiser book it says to align the + and - signs. Well as I took a peek I saw that the clutch assembly gears both have + and - signs on each gear, on the first picture below you can see that the top gear has a - and then what appears to be a another line right next to it, then the bottom gear has a + plus a - right next to it looks like. My question is does it matter if the plus is on the top or if its on the bottom since it seems like each gear has both a + and -? On the second picture I turned that upper gear on the clutch assembly by hand and it also had a +. Just wanted to ask so that way I know for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I'm no expert but have helped "supervise" a buddy that builds drives. He has always lined a + and - up and never worried which gear had the + as long as the other had the -.

As was said, it doesnt matter if the upper gear has the + or - sign as long as the lower gear has the opposite sign.
