Default 89 bravo 1 rattling

It rattles when the drive is up (only at idle, not in gear), when i put the drive down it goes away. What am i hearing and should i be concerned. there is only 1 month left of the season.

On the same day my standard speedo quit working, is there a connection?

well thanks to all that help.

Your speedo is prob connected to your drive, just a small black hose. Check to see if it's still connected. If it is check the pitot on drive see if it's clogged.

I belive its the drive vibrating. No i dont have hydro steering. in the spring gimball and u joints were good.

I had to idle with the drive up for 25mins while some morons at the Fair Heaven launch were trying to load there boats! Real shallow by the rocks + wind kept pushing me and the other 15 boaters trying to go home, so had to keep it running. Wasnt happy!

Does it rattle when it is trimmed down?? It might just be the u joints clattering. Might need some grease as well. 21 years is a long time.

You are trimmed up too far and the U Joints are binding.

You guys are probably right. Must of had the drive up to far while idling, just never noticed it before. Definatly need to hit the joints with grease thou. It does go away when drive is down.

Thanks again folks.
