Default Busted Bravo 1 XR

I don't have it apart yet to see how bad; but, I broke the drive last weekend at the Cumberland Poker Run. Assuming I haven't destroyed the case and just need gears and bearings, anyone had any luck with XR upgrades? Sources for these parts?

Thanks,
Mike

FYI: I have a XR sitting in the garage with new upper (never bolted to a boat), gears, bearings, and fresh rebuilt lower. Looks new. Sold the boat and looking to get it out of the garage. $4,500 pallet shipped.

Did it sound like rocks in a blender when it went?
from my experiences, you'll need a compete upper.

If you just hit rev limiter and no painful noise, it
might have lucked out with a twisted shaft or sheared
the cone off the gear.

Unfortunately, merc is the only one who makes the gears. ( others market them)

There are others out there that do upgrades on the rest of it.

It's hard to say exactly what happen. We were running down the lake at @ 71 MPH; came off plane and idled around - sounded fine. Came back up on plane and it sounded like the engine wasn't running right. Dropped off plane and idled around again; couldn't hear anything with the engine; but, when I put in reverse, got a noise liike a rod knocking - wasn't. Shut down and watched the big boys go by. When I tried to restart, it sounded like I stripped something in the starter; solenoid engaged and starter spun; but, engine didn't turn over. Towed back to State Dock. Didn't find out the drive busted until we pulled it out on Sunday and I spun the prop by hand - gravel. Guess I won't know how bad until I pull the top cap or more.

Billet Marine built mine, very nice work and running them on my 37 A/T with big whipple motors and not easy on the sticks, zero failure.
