Default Looking for IMCO SCX Uppers/drives

I upgraded the power on my DCB to some 604 c.i. whipple quad rotors and I want to upgrade the drives before I have a problem. The motors just went in July and they pretty much have just been broken in. I haven't ran it hard yet as I don't want to take a chance at drive failure at speed. I changed the drive oil twice and no shavings, etc....but I know what is inevitable. The set up is Mr. Gadgets best bravos, standard lower with 1.5 inch spacers, extension boxes, maximus 34 props. What does everyone recommend. I'm thinking from researching other threads IMCO SCX drives with 1" spacers. How does the SCX cool? I think I might have a problem with using my lowers in that only the side water pickups are functional and I doubt that they are going to get much flow at speed. Does anyone know where some good used uppers are or good deals on new ones? Thanks Eric

I'm pretty sure they have an internal cooling system but i dont know exactly how it works. (i guess from water pickup on lowers) I've had mine all season with no issues at all. I have much less power than you but I agree with you that its smart to upgrade. Best deal I found was 9K each, that included helmet change, oil resevior, and vertical shaft coupler and ITS input shaft. NO used ones ive seen around.

Chatt your boat looked good at Lake Cumberland. Didn't get to meet you. Where did you get your deal?

I'd go BMax or SCX, those are basically your only two upgrade options in a Bravo style setup. BMax also makes a 1.50 gear ratio now so if you're worried about speed loss I think they have it covered now.

I'd like to do the 1.50 upgrade some day soon.

I'm at 1.36 and need as low a ratio as I can get. I come on plane at 10 percent throttle.

The standard BMax HT is a 1.30 ratio, that's what I have.

If you want to reuse your lowers you also need vertical shafts. BMax vertical shafts are shorter and have a bigger spline than a Bravo XR.
