Default bravo help

Okay so I bought a 2004 formula 271 fastech that was raped of the drive and engine.
I picked up a bravo 1x lower from someone here on the boards and it doesn't have a lower drain/fill screw. How do you fill them?
Secondly.........will the gears from a non reservoir bravo 1 upper fit into a new style x upper? same guy has the upper for sale that needs to be rebuilt. I bought a standard bravo upper 1.5, but didnt' notice that is an older model without the hole for remote reservoir.
Any info is greatly appreciated!

The drain is under the prop on a standard bravo, I fill it there with the top plug out. Put in top plug, two more pumps, then quickly reinstall lower plug. The upper and lower have to be mated to fill.

Sounds like you have an older style (88) upper, without the reservoir. And the gears in that drive won't work in the newer style upper cases that use the X gears. The towers are shorter in the newer cases. You can put new gears in an older case, but not the other way around.

Hope that helps.

looks like I'm looking for a newer style x upper.
1995-2005? The boat is a 2004 so it didn't have the sweptback style on it to begin with.

Look for an upper with ser # starting with OM or newer. The swept backs start with OW..
