Installing Bravo Drive
I took my Bravo I drive off to winterize and i cant get the shift cable back in. Is there some trick to getting it in. I put it in forward when i pulled it off.
Please help Thanks |
Make sure the shifter clamp that clamps on the wire in the drive is pulled out. If not pull it out with some needle nose pliers. Watch as you put it together and you can see it going into the clamp.

I tried that but it wont come out. Is it really hard to pull out

Are you tryin to pull it out of the Drive or out of the Transom Assembly Bell Housing?
I always do them in neutral..... |
tried pulling it out of the drive

Turn the input shaft as you pull it.

Are you talking about the shaft that goes into the Bell Housing. I think i tried that too but will try again
|
Noles the input shaft to the drive (big thing with ujoints on it) has to be turning when you shift a Bravo drive, or it may not shift, depending on the position of the brass bump rings inside. I use a pair of vice grips with a finish nail. It will fit in the slot and the linkage should pop out when the input shaft is turning. If it doesnt you may need to take the back cap off and check the detent ball and spring. They will come apart and prevent shiftining.. Remember to drain the drive down some before you pull the back cap..
Hope that helps. Dick |
The nail trick worked.
Thanks |
so does the drive belong in neutral or forward? Thanks Mark
