Default cobra outdrive

Inlaws have an 87 fourwinns with a 3.0 OMC, and cobra outdrive. they took it into have winterized, and the marina told them it needs Ujoint bellows, and gimbal bearing. quoted them over 1k to fix. They are strapped for cash, and asked if I would be willing to fix it for them.

I've done all this on my past Bravo 3. replaced the gimbal ring, and all the bellows, pretty easily.

Looked online, and doesn't seem to bad. Is there anything I'm missing here, or is it pretty similar to the merc? Will my merc alignment tool work with the cobra? Any other special tools I'll need? I rented a slide hammer when I did my gimbal, and assume its the same as the cobra?

You can use the same tools as merc to remove, replace and align the bearing. The bellows are easy to swap out. There is more room to work in, you don't need to pull the bell housing to do the job, and it's nice that there is no shift cable bellows. I kinda wish merc would do the same.

Thanks.

tore it down last night. Definitly easier to work with then the Bravo's. pretty simple, and straight forward.
