Default Bravo to NXT Conversion

From Mercury Racing:

The NXT¹® SSM drive offers OEM boat builders and consumers the benefit of using the legendary dry-sump Six drive with the engine mounted in the same location as a Bravo drive set-up thanks to Mercury Racing's exclusive NXT¹® transmission design.

Does anyone know if this is really true...could you replace a Bravo with the NXT and NOT move the engine???

NXT tranny is in the box. So the engine should stay the same.

Thanks for the link, I'm surprised that the 700's sat back more than the 525's. Not worried about the cutouts, just the engine placement (can't move'em forward).

Probably due to the X having to go up for the NXT.

Due to the transom angle, when you go up, you go
back slighty also.

I did the conversion on a 382. The cutout needs a small fill piece at the bottom of the old bravo cutout. And yes the engine sets back about 1 1/2" from the 525 position. Pics of the conversion are posted on here somewhere..

how much more does the NXT weigh than a Bravo setup? I know the #6 is freakin heavy.

How did Phil build his 700NXT Gladiator? Was it a staggered setup? I can't remember.

Without getting out my protractor, I sure don't think I'd want to move the engines back even a 1/4 inch if I were hanging more weight off the transom compared to a Bravo/ITS setup.
