Default shorties on a 382 Formula sr-1 ??????

I upgraded power to 540's, and now am looking at upgrading drives. Does anyone have experience with -2" lowers on a Formula hull ? I have been told that Formula sets their drives a bit deep, but I don't have access to a pair of shorties to just try out. I hate to spend the money just to find that they are not what I need.
Also, if spending the money, should I go with Imco, or Merc sportmasters.

Thanks for the input

I tried some borrowed Imco 2" shorties on my 1992 Formula 336 and saw no improvement, even though I knew I should. My sterndrive guy was surprised also. I know my bravos were deep and it should have worked. I did not have the time to try any different props with the Imcos.
