Default Outdrive Leaking

OK so i installed my outdrive shower yesterday, got all the bolts out, and was just kinda looking, but i accidently moved the cap on top of the outdrive. got the shower installed but then it was leaking drive oil, so took it back off twisted the cap, and found a o-ring. must have gotten moved out of place, so i put a new oring on it, tightend everything back up, and seemed to be ok, however, today i was looking at how i was going to install the brackets for the hydraulic steering and noticed more fluid. so i lowered the drive and yep sure enough it's leaking out from around the cap still. does that cap just come off? is there another gasket or o ring under there that could have been damaged when i twisted it? It's a Bravo 1 Drive.

Make sure the surfaces on the drive, cap, and groove that the O-ring sits in are clean.

Also make sure the the bolts are torqued to spec, I think it's 35 lbs.

i didn't use a tq wrench, just a 3/8 ratched, is it possible i overtightened it and cause the o ring to split?

No, the oring is in a groove and will be compressed only as far as the o-ring dia. minus the groove depth. It's not a flush seal like a gasket. The top cap will be tight/flush to the housing. If overtightened, you'll strip the threads or bust the bolts. Did you replace with the correct sized o-ring or get the bearing race out of location holding the cap up some?
