Default Anyone run a 5 blade prop on a Bravo 1

Simple question. Does anyone run a 5 blade prop on a standard bravo1 drive? Do you have any problems with it?

Aside from Fountain putting them on their boats at the factory in both 5 & 6 blade configurations?
I don't know any other manufacturer that produced a lot of Bravo boats with them on.
They don't do much for you unless you run a high x-dimension. They will increase your cruise RPM, but again, unless you x is high they'll probably slow you down.
Call Bblades up & see what they recommend.

+1 to JasonSmith's comment.

With standard power you should be okay.

I should have said cruise speed not RPM. You'll gain mph at the same rpm when cruising. If you cruise at 3500 rpm & 40mph you'll probably pick up 5+ mph with the 5 blades.

I have a 1994 38 ft Cigarette Top Gun, 11,500lbs dry weight, no gas. Older style bravo 1 drives with the 1 inch prop shaft. I have 5 blade maximus props. 600hp supercharged motor on each side. No problems, but I have to say that I am very easy on the throttle. Also, I am in freshwater and the boat has never been airborn. I change the oil about every 10-20 hours. No metal. Also, I never go more than about a 10 mile stretch. I highly recommend the Halo Max drive shower. I don't get that white chalk buildup anymore. I am sure I could break my drives very quick if I wanted. Love the cruise speed, hate top end.

I asked the same question a while back to some local marina's. I was told you could run 5 blade on a Bravo 1 with under 600hp and not have issues. Was going to do the same on my mystique. I have 28p 4 blade now, but spinning too many rpm's. I just purchased a set of labbed 31p 4blade bravos with a cupped tip. Hopefully they bite a little harder and helps with the porpoise. I think boomer has the best set up with the shorties and 6 blade herrings though. I cant do that this year, but maybe next year. Needed props anyway and this was cheaper for me; if doesnt work, at least i wont spinning the snot out my motors.... Let you know my results.

I called Bblades and I went through several 4 and 5 blades on my Baja 278 Performance. It has a slightly high x dem. I settled on the 26 pitch 5 blade and couldn't be happier with it. Got the 496 HO in it.
