Default #6 wet sump spitting oil out

I've got a set of wet 6's that i just recently installed, the right hand is running perfectly, the left is pushing oil out of the reservoir.

everything seems to be turning very free, and nothing in the oil. What are some of the causes of this? And how can i rectify the problem?

Thanks, Dave

Dave,

Not sure? Did you fill them or where the filled already?

Just asking to make sure the where filled from the bottom and have no air trapped in there. Only guess at the moment.

Also check vent tube to make sure its not plugged or pinched.

Did you try Matt at TNT,...or Parnell?

Nice ride,...when did you pic that up?

hey Jon;

We topped them off once we hooked them up to the reservoirs from the bottom there was about 1.5 " showing, -- lots of room for expansion---
the other one hasn't moved a bit --done the same way
i was told by a friend here that the counter rotation ones do that -- i can't see merc sending them out like this.
Parnell had drys on it when he owned it, i talked iwth stern drive specialties and they weren't sure other than to check the temp of the drive to make sure it wasn't getting too hot. i'll do that today.
Do you still have that one wet sump? theres a guy here looking for one.
Picked it up in April, got it in the water 3 weeks ago.
How's the Cougar coming along?
Have a good w/e.

Cougar was coming real good till last fall,.....then work travel took over and haven't touched it since :-(

Need to finish this project up with work, then should be home on regular basis again.

Nice boat by the way,.......you will have fun with it.

ttt

still trying to figure out why this drive is spitting its lube out the reservoir.
Everything is turning free, no heat build up, lube is fresh and green with no fuzz/chips on the drain plug.

There has to be a reason for this.

Thanks, Dave

Not sure if you figured this out, but I had the exact same thing going on with my #6 wet-sumps after I installed new reservoirs a few years ago. The problem ended up being that the rubber gasket on the underside of the reservoir caps were not there. I called Revolution Marine and they sent them to me. I installed them and have not had the fluid level in the reservoir change since!!

When I would run hard, these 42 ounce reservoirs would fill up and leak drive fluid out of the top. After a minute or two of coming off plane the level would go back down to normal. What a mess!!!
