Bravo 1 to Imco shorty conversion
Will standard Bravo 1 parts work in an Imco lower housing or do they have to be XR parts?
Thanks |
anyone?
|
from what im told you can use standard bravo parts
|
You can use most of your internals but you will need a vert shaft, cav plate and some new bearings. If you have questions or need the parts to do the conversion give me a call I can help you out. 989-464-5531 Rob

will do. Thanks

i have an Imco cavitation plate for sale if you need one
|
I have one that I think will work. It came with the XR upper i purchased. Thanks

To insure the best performance/reliability in your new lower, give Aaron a call at Max Machine Worx. They are sending me the parts to do precisely what you are doing.
If you are trying to fill your IMCO lower with the least expensive parts, don't call. |
Just happen to have an extra bravo lower laying around and was wanting to try out a shorty to see if it would pick my boat up any before I spent ANOTHER couple grand.
|
I did just that, bought a 2'' shortie it came with shaft and cav plate. paid 500 plus bearings to swap it over. it was a 2'' shortie run behind my ol24 650hp. a friend has 900 plus hp in a 31 sutphen single with a xr with max worx guts and a shortie. its holding up.

I have a new XR upper and an extra B1 lower. Just running 600hp. Now I need to find a short lower case.

Yes they will, what you're looking to do is a Bravo I to Bravo IV conversion with cryogenic parts and replace the Mercury lower unit with an IMCO SC Extreme lower unit, this way if you have a ITS or XV box the Mercury Racing Helmet will still work with it, but the IMCO lower unit is more aerodynamic and causing less prop slipage. This conversion will hold 1000 HP without any problem, I have one, an XV Box with a Bravo IV-S4C Upper Unit and an IMCO SC Extreme 1.35 Lower Unit, with a 34" Maximus Prop. it runs perfect with a Blown 525 EFI turning about 950HP.
