How much power are you putting through them? I just put Whipples on my 525s (now 784 on the dyno). Trying to pick up some more speed. The Imco cases on the Teague lowers should be more efficient than my standard XRs. Teague claims that the torsional shafts absorb some stress and help the drive live longer.

Mine is holding up great, believe they are rated for 850-900hp

I am only at 650

XR lowers, never been a problem. Had them on 39 Sonics with 850hp never a problem with the lower.

You don't ever see sheared off prop shafts or vert shafts???I have very few problems with uppers, it is always lowers, gears, shafts, etc. I roll my eyes when I see a guy spend 10,000 plus to buy a scx because he has 1000 hp and THEN put imco SC's on it, might as well go all the way!!

I was told that the SCX drives will kill a few mph on the top end.

With 780hp I would go with SCX uppers...and SC Lowers with upgraded vert shaft. A 35ft FTN is a pretty light boat.

We have SCX uppers and lowers on our 42 w 1000's...yes you do scrub a lil speed..but the peace of mind is worth it. You can also send your SCX lowers to Wilson Marine in FLA..they can blueprint them...and you get a few MPH back.

IMCO is also in the works of another SCX/SCT setup...the new lowers is MUCH better than the current SCX lower. I dont think anyone knows if it will bolt up to existing SCX uppers though.

I haven't had any problems with mine. After ~100 hours behind 800hp, the gears and shafts looked so good we reused them. Maintain it and drive it responsibly, it will live.
