So I hit 71 gps with the big 357 this weekend, and I think its time for a drive swap. For one I have two left hand drive's that seem to fight eachother and cause the boat to run through the water crooked. I am also pushing the envelope at over 600hp a side. I am thinking Konrads will be the best choice, and am tempted to run the HP lower to get these very deep x dimensions up out of the water. I believe this will have me about 3.6 inches shallower from where my drives sit now. Does this sound like a good idea or should I stick with the standard lower? Seems these old deep v's had very conservative x dimensions, and with todays 5 blade props I was hoping for some substantial speed gains with the correct left and right hand drive, and the higher x dimensions? And the Konrads should handle the boost when that time comes?

The standard length Konrad 540 HP lower is 1.7" shorter from input shaft to prop shaft compared to the TRS. The Konrad X-Factor (shorty) is almost 2" shorter than the HP lower.
I've been involved an countless TRS conversions over the years, (I'm the factory sales/tech rep for Konrad, since 2004) including several 357 Formula's such as yours. We've found the the majority of TRS conversions respond very well to the increased prop shaft height of the standard length HP lower but the X-Factor lower is too high for the older, heavier straight bottom hulls.
Here's a few pics of the '89 357 Formula with 540" Procharged motors that we converted spring 2010.
Please feel free to contact me directly for more info.
