I am looking at doing this conversion this winter myself.

I have been told the regular bravo lower gears etc will fit into the imco case but just to be sure when you order either of the cases inform them as to what you are doing and anything else required they should be able to inform you so you can purchase it or have it thrown in.

From what I've also gathered searching the forums the Imco SC case is slightly faster but the Sportmaster case seems to handle slightly better because of the longer skeg.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't started my project yet and any correction only makes it easier for me.

Well if either of you are interested in jumping into a sportmaster, I have a -2 1.5 ratio that I have determined does not help my boat enough to warrant keeping (not the sportmaster's fault, imcos don't perform well either). Either way, I have shortened the skeg 2 inches to make it the same length as a normal skeg. I have had it for two years and used my Bravo 3 for most of them. Let me know, I can give you more details later. I'll be listing it in the next couple weeks anyway.

Imco is faster than a Sportsmaster in all the tests I have seen. Not sure if a shortened skeg will make a difference.

My Bravo I parts fit into Imco drives. I went with Imcos because of reports of consistently being faster.
