Default inner transome plate thickness..?

Looking to get rid of my innerr transom plates with the built in puke tanks and make some with out them. How thick do I have to go with these? Ps these will be for #5's on boxes if that makes a difference or not!?

I made a set out of 1/2" alum. but 3/8" probably would have been fine.

Thank Gary, I traced the cork gasket and added 1.5" all the way around. Im not going to cut out the top hole where the steering bar was originally located. I figured 3/8 was thick enough, i gave them to a buddy of mine who is going to cut out them with a water jet, just needed to know the thickness....
