It is not that easy !! If it was, many other companies would be doing it. Plus Merc has a nice patent on the design, I have checked.

if we build good ones,it will not infringe on the patent design....

As I stated in my first post, I have checked very thoroughly into the Merc patent. It is vague and very broad at the same time. The patent is a general one for a shiftable drive. You would have to make other changes besides the gears to get around the patent.

And I am sure you guys have never really shown an XR gear set to a gear company. Most of them say it is too complicated to produce in small numbers. I know because I have done my homework already...

I've looked into it also. The biggest problem I see is the cone clutch ring on the gear. It gets in the way of conventional gear machines. That must be why Merc has it friction welded on the gear. Expensive tooling.
